Phase 2: Thinking & Reasoning Techniques · 25 min · ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini (ideally all three)
Cross-Model Comparison
Same prompt, three models, three answers. The differences are where the insights are.
Hiring signal: What changes when you use this: you use cross-model comparison as a debugging and confidence-building habit — catching blind spots that any single model would miss.
What you will learn
- Compare answers across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to catch blind spots
- Know when cross-model comparison is worth the time and when it's overkill
- Identify what different models are good at and lean into their strengths
- Use comparison as a debugging tool when output quality matters
The Problem
Every AI model has blind spots. ChatGPT might be great at creative writing but miss nuance in analysis. Claude might be excellent at long documents but conservative in tone. Gemini might be fast and well-integrated with Google tools but less precise on niche topics.
When you only use one model, you inherit its blind spots without knowing it. When you compare the same prompt across multiple models, the differences reveal what you might be missing.
The Practice
Run the same prompt in 2-3 different AI tools and compare the outputs. You're looking for:
- What they agree on — this is probably reliable
- Where they differ — this is where you need to think harder
- What one caught that the others missed — this is the value of comparison
Example: You ask all three: "What are the three biggest risks of launching a product without beta testing?"
- ChatGPT says: bugs in production, negative first impressions, wasted marketing spend
- Claude says: reputation damage, missing critical user feedback, competitor advantage
- Gemini says: technical failures, poor user onboarding, lost early-adopter goodwill
All three identified real risks, but they emphasized different things. ChatGPT focused on practical/financial risks. Claude focused on strategic/competitive risks. Gemini focused on user-experience risks. Together, you have a much more complete picture than any single model gave you.
