The people who get hired aren't the ones who call themselves "Prompt Engineers." They're the ones who can demonstrate AI fluency as part of their actual role.

The skill is real and valuable. The framing matters.

How to Talk About It

Don't Say

"I'm a Prompt Engineer" (the title is fading and sounds narrow)
"I know how to use ChatGPT" (too basic — everyone says this)
"I'm an AI expert" (overclaims — you're fluent, not an expert)

Do Say

"I use AI daily to [specific outcome — write faster, research deeper, produce visual assets]"
"I've built a prompt library and workflow system that saves me [X hours per week]"
"I can produce before/after examples showing how I improved AI output quality"
"I've built custom AI tools (GPTs/Projects) for [specific use case]"
"I've trained team members on prompting best practices"
